The Sweet Escape.

Shifu sent us this on email.

Humour me. hur hur.

29th Feb. Never knew it was a somewhat significant date until I heard of the old Irish tradition initiated by Saint Patrick( Brigid of Kildare) in 5th century Ireland. It is said that women may propose marriage only on leap years. Wow.

A person born on Febuary 29 may be called a "leapling". In common years they usually celebrate their birthdays on Febuary 28 or 1 March. I think to date, I've only known an ex secondary school classmate ( Yee Hui ) whose birthday falls exactly on 29th. How special.

PLEASE LEH. THIS IS SINGAPORE. HOW CAN THIS BE HAPPENING??

Mas Selamat, 47, who heads the Singapore Jemaah Islamiyah terror network, escaped from the Whitley Road Detention Centre at 4.05 pm on Wednesday, sparking an island-wide manhunt involving thousands of police, SAF, Gurkha and Special Operations Command forces.

If, after DPM Wong Kan Seng said 'I'm Sorry' to our sunny little island and YOU are still ignorant of this big hoo ha, I think YOU must be living in Pluto. *rolls eye*

DAMN COCK CAN. He escaped from the detention centre with a 'tight' security on a bad limping leg? You gotta be kidding me. I mean, shouldn't the security be more rigid knowing that the now-fugitive is Sg's most wanted criminal since 2001?? Seriously, where did the promise stating that Singapore is a safe country go to? Down the longkang (drain in malay)?

From CNA's online news :

Bukit Panjang MP, Dr Teo Ho Pin, said: “Mas Selamat escaped at 4.05pm
yesterday. I received news of his escape through Channel NewsAsia’s SMS alert at
8.42pm.

“May I know why the ministry took so long, four hours to inform the
public? Mas Selamat is unarmed, unlike Dave Teo's case, so why can't we involve
the public to help to arrest him?" Dr Teo questioned.

Mr Wong replied: "Our security agencies assessed at the time of Mas
Selamat's escape there was no imminent danger to the public. The focus then was
to lock down the Whitley Road Detention Centre and then start a systematic
operation to find and arrest him. The priority is to arrest him. No efforts will
be spared to track him down."

WAH LAO EH.

The whole platoon+army+security agencies+whoever who makes up the defence team in Singapore ought to be fucked upside down, left right centre. And DPM's ridiculous reply on Dr's Teo question is worth mocking at.

We, the citizens of Singapore, are SO BLOODY 'KIA SI' (scared to die in hokken).

HOW CAN THEY HAPPILY CONCLUDE THAT THEIR NEGLIGENCE IN SECURITY DO NOT POSE ANY THREAT TO US ?!!!

*shakes head*

As quoted from Dao Ming Si* said, " 如果道歉有用,那还要警察干麽?" (If saying sorry solves everything, why do we need the police?)

*Taiwan drama-Meteor Garden. F4's flamboyant leader.

**

Latest report : The hoo ha has been escalated up to the INTERPOL. WKS still dare to say "there was no imminent danger to the public". *claps* How clever.

Anyhow, the purpose of this post is to raise awareness to the blogosphere. So, if you happen to chance upon this post, please SPREAD around.

READ : I am NOT ready to be blown up into pieces in the MRT.

Meanwhile, search for the JI leader continues...

It's mid-week! Smile. =)

I always try to sign off my boring working day by logging onto blogger and spill my chest off current issues or whatever that caught my interest for the day. Unfortunately, whenever I wish to state my opinion on certain stuffs, I usually end up getting all busy throughout the day and the entry is NEVER posted! Needless to say it being drafted out.

It's so *ARRRRRGHHHHH*. And by tomorrow, I would most probably have forgotten clean about it. Shucks.

Was listening to Shan and Roz's show on 98.7FM earlier on and they were on the age-old debatable topic of blogging. Shan thinks that bloggers are egoistical beings who cannot "self deal" with their own personal issues; while Roz conjours that blogging makes her a happier person as she has an outlet to vent her angst.

I think blogging is like keeping a personal diary/journal. Just that the diary got a tad too high tech whereby it comes alive with not only pictures and videos, but also with the use of creative lingo.

Seriously, you cannot possibly write down "fuck you. damn bitch." in your diary/journal book right? I don't know, I find it unethical to literally ink out f.u.c.k or ka ni na on paper. Mind me but, although saying it out shows how uncouth one can get, but I just feel that writing out(on paper) is quite sick in the head.

Imagine this senario. Bitch A hates Bitch B to the bones. Bitch A starts to get into a killing frenzy and starts scribbling 'I WANT TO KILL THAT BITCH' on her room wall. Scary shit? But turn it around, if Bitch A merely type it out somewhere somehow and after typing it she feels like an angry part of her vanished, she most prob wouldn't do anything silly after that.

And just like any old-fashioned diary which provides a cute alloy lock, blogs can be "locked" too. So if you do not want others to read about your mundane life, don't even post in on the internet. And if you do blog, then don't get all pussyfied about some bitch/bastard/enemy chancing upon your personal web space and leaving inane comments.

Afterall, you did blog for people to read right?

DUH.

Tuesday's Pink.

Did anyone catch the 80th Annual Academy Awards? Disappointment. I always look forward to the glitz and glamour of the red carpet but Kodak Theatre's pretty "bare" this year with many Hollywood stars going MIA.

Well, I still have my favourites for the night...

Amy Adams in Proenza Schouler. Who can forget this sweet Princess in ENCHANTED? Amazing vocals. =)

Johnny Depp in a custom tuxedo by Giorgio Armani and custom shirt by Anto Beverly Hills.

*

And the OSCAR goes to... *drum rolls*

Diablo Cody in a Dior by John Galliano leopard print silk chiffon gown with jeweled detail.

OSCAR award : Writer. Best Original Screenplay - JUNO ( I've not caught JUNO yet!)

Marion Cotillard in a Jean Paul Gaultier mermaid-inspired gown with Chopard jewelry, including a champagne necklace layered with brown diamond bead necklaces and a square-cut yellow diamond ring. She selected Sergio Rossi evening shoes.

OSCAR award : Best Actress in a leading role - LA VIE EN ROSE ( I sat in the cinema for an amazing 3hr to catch this french film. Nice.)

OSCAR's aside.

May I present to you my baby pink cadillac?

Just kidding. But, isn't it gorgeous?

Monday's not so bad after all.

Another guitar-fied song I was listening to this morning. Jason Reeves is awesome. I wanna get his album.

The end is such a scary place to start
everything is torn apart
and I don't know where to go from here
In the end, there's no reason to pretend
I know you won't be back again
I gotta find a way from here..

I don't know where I'll fall down
but I'm sure to hit the ground..

Cause it's not over till it's over
every ending's a new beginning
one more chance to get it right
one more chance to get it wrong
it's not over till it's over
sometime's nowhere leads to somewhere
and it all starts again
in the end

I don't know where I'll fall down
but I'm sure to hit the ground...

- In the end by Jason Reeves

Heart it. =)

Just this week...

HOT mama Zoe Tay graced the cover of 8Days in a skimpy bikini which created a controversial topic among many Singaporeans for the past few days. I'm for neutral in this banter.

C'mon. If Hollywood A-listers eg. soon-to-be mummy Halle Berry or even Angelina Jolie can pose on FHM , why can't Caldecott Queen Zoe Tay wear a sexy two piece swimwear on 8Days? So what if she's a mother of 2, a perfect wife of Mr. Phillip? If Mr. Phillip has no objection, what rights do we have to boycott that cover. She's the ONLY 40yr old female celebrity who has the "liao"(assets) lor.

On the other hand, god knows what those 'chi co peks' will do to that magazine. In a not-so-liberal country of Singapore, I wonder what will her kids think of her. hmmm.

Kid to Friend : " My mummy is Zoe Tay and she is very pretty in her swimming costume! Her face is on the magazine you know!!!"

Friend : "But my mummy refuse to let me see! Lend me your copy leh!"

Me : ............ *faints*

As Hong Kong mourns over the passing of famous comedian Lydia Sum...

During her healthier days.

Most recent pic of Fei Fei.

...Another part of HongKong gathered for the final showdown of Edison Chen's hoo-ha. Canadian-born heartthrob sincerely apologized to the media(14 sorries) and the *ahem* willing *ahem* victims involved in his scandalous misconduct. Edison solemnly announced that he will quit HK's showbiz( i reckon he's just gonna disappear for a short while only lah) and devote his time SOLELY to Charity. Someone give credit to his remorseful honesty please.

But, he is still cute leh.

OLE~ OLE OLE OLE~~ How can we forget the cheers at the Padang last night when Singapore outbid Moscow to host the first ever Youth Olympic Games? It is such an honour for the Olympic flame to be lit up on our little sunny island. Check out official webby of YOG2010.

A prominent history in time. Stand up for Singapore!

While more congratulatary messages splash across papers and blogs today, I'm thinking of future ERP charges and rise of almost everything come 2010. 10% GST maybe? *shrugs*

A must-watch movie of the year.

The Leap Years.

p/s: Babe! Let's catch this movie! How's that??

From Trevvy.com

MediaCorp Raintree Pictures, one of Asia’s leading film companies and Ochre Pictures, Singapore’s award-winning production company are producing Singapore’s first English love story entitled, THE LEAP YEARS.

Thai heartthrob – Ananda Everingham, last seen in Shutter (2004) co-starred in this romantic love story with Singapore girl next door - Li Lin. Based on a novella by well-acclaimed writer, Dr Catherine Lim, the story talks about a young Singaporean girl having chance upon her special someone on 29th February. She decides to base her intuition on an Irish leap year tradition that no man will refuse any request of a lady and invites him out for a date. Together, they embark on a romantic journey that spans over 12 years, meeting only thrice in 12 years, on the leap year. The delightful draw being the leap yearly meet-ups is sure to entice the special someone out there in all of us.

Awwwwwww. Bring tissues. I'll cry I swear.

Do you believe in forever? Is true love even of existent? How long is a wait?

Till today, I simply cannot comprehend the depth of these questions.

My current favourite snack - Plain Chocolate McVities Digestive Biscuits.

McVitie’s biscuits have been enjoyed by generations for over 100 years. The first ever digestive biscuit was created by a new young employee, Alexander Grant. The name Digestive was derived from its high content of baking soda as an aid to food digestion.

Over one hundred years later the McVitie’s Digestive remains a firm favourite and is the highest selling brand in the everyday biscuit segment.McVitie’s first foray into the blending of biscuit and chocolate resulted in the Homewheat Chocolate Digestive brand (now simply known as McVitie’s Chocolate Digestive) in1925. Over 71 million packets of McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives are eaten in the UK each year – that’s an astounding 52 biscuits per second.

YUMMY CAN.

Wednesday yo

My flight to BKK is officially booked last night. The hotel Louis picked for us sounds pretty awesome. MANHATTAN Hotel. =) He said this hotel can be found on the map unlike those cheap "unseen-on-maps" ulu Thailand hotels. Perfect deal eh. $42/night. YAY.

Now, I need a HUGE luggage. Preferbly something PINK(duh). If you guys had not known yet, this will be my virgin trip(more like first time on a plane) with my friends. So glad it's with darling Bestie. But definitely more trips coming up! Maybe Krabi in June with Bunchie. Phoebe was thinking of Aussie during winter. Or maybe Bintan since our last trip to Batam wasn't quite a successful one.

Anyhow, I'm excited. hehe.

**

I'm currently worrying over another issue though. I managed to search through many days of classified ads and found the NEAR PERFECT job for me. But, I've not send in my full detailed resume yet. The job advertisement is already nicely cut out from Saturday's classified and I've got NO IDEA why the sudden procrastination. Maybe because I want this job so badly that I'm actually afraid I'll not be selected. Fear of rejection. But I'll try. I need to draft out an impressive yet less intimidating cover letter.

I WANT THIS JOB CAN.

**

Ever since I purposely skipped watching Ratatouille last year, I realised I've been missing out on a lot of fantastic movies! Maybe I should put my Video Ezy member card to use and start on a 'DVD weekend getaway'. My house is usually empty come weekends and it's gonna be great chilling out on my comfy Ikea armchair(with my favourite cashew nuts) and make full use of my dad's BOSE surround system. HA HA HA. I shall do just that.

**

I MISS BLADING with PINKIE~!!! I miss the feeling of gliding on the roads. We are going to our usual hangout this weekend to check on the the new "playground"/bio shuai ge. wahahhaha. Long Live the ECP gang~!

It's back to boring Monday

Suddenly, I find myself in yet another emotional turmoil. So sick and tired of everything around me. My mind's like a bloody washing machine going at top speed. And the "clothes" in the washing machine?? My worries+anxiety+dreams+hope+stress+almost anything that needs to be pondered about. I should stop worrying too much. *hurmph*

**

Ok let's talk about happy things. =)

The 'Gah-men' is giving us ang bao again come April. Check out Budget 2008 to know how much you'll be receiving.

I need a new job. My contract is gonna end in a month's time and I don't wanna extend it.
( I freaking cannot wait to leave. )

My complexion is improving.

Count down to our BKK trip in March~!!! Wow weee!!! =)

Back to a healthy lifestyle. Those CNY goodies and lack of exercises is SHOWING. I'm hiding the weighing scale for the moment.

Now now,

Where did I place my Yoga mat?

The acoustic version of Cute without the "E" is nice. Heart it <3.

Hoping for the best just hoping nothing happens
A thousand clever lines unread on clever napkins
I will never ask if you don't ever tell me
I know you well enough to know you'll never love me

p/s: Someone told me something about this song when I recently commented that I love the title oh so much. It's just a mere coincidence 'coz I seriously had no idea.

- Saint Valentine -

What is it about L.O.V.E that make us so stupid?
Love is nor thing, nor kiss, nor soul;
Just silly doings of playful cupid.

I think LOVE is like her tickling his feet.
Squirmy at first yet close and comfy;
Or like how their hearts skip a beat.

Does LOVE cause us to get mad?
Can we taste if it's sour or sweet
Do we know if we're happy or sad.

Is LOVE plain or filled with colours?
Is it pretty pink or bloody red;
I guess it's only seen by those passionate lovers.

They say LOVE is in the air;
Yet we cannot see, touch or feel.
That's so unfair.

Maybe LOVE is as simple as it can be;
I cry and you cry; you smile and I smile.
Afterall, L.O.V.E is only about you and me.

Yours Truly,
Diana =)

人日

Happy Birthday World~! Today is the 7th day of the Chinese New Year, traditionally known as 人日 (ren ri), the common man's birthday, the day when everyone grows one year older.

It is the day when tossed raw fish salad, yu sheng, is eaten. This is a custom primarily among the overseas Chinese in SEA, such as Malaysia and Singapore. People get together to toss the colourful salad and make wishes for continued wealth and prosperity. For many Chinese Buddhists, this is another day to avoid meat.

-source from Wikipedia.org

Well, since it's everyone's birthday, I decided to forgo the calories and treat myself to a sumptous plate of yummy chicken rice. Apparently, the chicken rice set near my office is pretty famous!!! You know, the famous $22 Chatterbox chicken rice at Meritus Mandarin? The boss of the stall used to be an ex chef at Chatterbox! Worth the 20mins wait though. I've not had chix rice in a few months! It tasted so good I finished the whole bowl of rice for the first time( I usually have half a plate of rice left over). Anyhow, I loved it. *YUMMY*

It only cost $5

**

So today's also the eve of Valentines' Day.

I was initially thinking of coming up with a "boycott" Vday entry tomorrow...

and, am still deciding on the content.

The whole "boycott" thingy was reviewing and playing in my head for the whole afternoon. I was thinking, what if I post an 'anti-vday' entry? It's gonna be hell cliched la. Why? For the very fact that I have no Valentine and without a date this year, I could easily pass off as 'a-lonely-girl-eating-sour-grapes', admiring jealously at all the happy couples out there.

AIYAH. What the heck.

Will see how my mood goes tomorrow. muahahhahaa!!!

The 5th

Exactly a year ago,

you were sitting right beside me.

Today,

Let's start from here...

as strangers.

**

Giving up, why should I
I've come to far to forget
Beautiful, just got lost
Somewhere along the way
So much was missing when you went away

Let's start from here, lose the past
Change our minds, we don't need a finish line
Let's take this chance don't think too deep
Of all those promises we couldn't seem to keep
I don't care where we go
Let's start from here

Shhh...Can we keep a secret?

There is this certain LiveJournal website called SgSecrets whereby Singaporeans go anonymous and post up their inner most secrets online. I used to browse PostSecrets but I think our own local secrets are much more explicit. You would be surprised to know that some of the secrets actually speaks your heart.
God I'm such a voyeuristic bitch. muahaha.

These are my personal favourites. Some of which I share the same sentiments.
